What Is Rose City Fashion Drawing?

Rose City Fashion Drawing is a Portland-based clothed figure drawing collective with a fashion focus. We host drawing events in fashion-oriented spaces around town as a way to bridge the gap between Portland's fashion industry and arts community. Each session features looks by local designers and stylists.

No prior drawing experience is necessary to join our events, just show up and get inspired. Basic materials are included in ticket cost to keep the barrier to entry low.

Tips for Figrure Drawing First-Timers

New to figure drawing? Welcome to your next favorite hobby!

What to expect:

  • The model will hold timed poses, starting short (2–5 min) and progressing to longer (10–15 min).

  • You’ll get time cues as we go, and there will be breaks to for the model to reset and stretch throughout the session.

If you get stuck on what to draw, just remember there are no rules! Try using a different material, start sketching the plants in the room — we love scribbles and stick figures here!

Etiquette reminders:

  • Photos of the model are not allowed without explicit verbal consent. Always ask first.

  • Art modeling is hard work! Tipping the model is encouraged but optional. Around $5-10 is customary if you would like to do so. (Cash or Venmo welcome!)
